Take in Yamba's coastal outlook

Yamba Lighthouse stands on Pilot Hill, a grassy coastal headland above the town. It is an easy place to pause after the beach, with broad views across the coastline and the Clarence River entrance.

Visit NSW describes the grassland around the lighthouse as a place for a picnic and seasonal whale watching. Clarence Valley Council says vehicle and pedestrian access to Pilot Hill is via Pilot Street, with additional pedestrian links to Harbour and Queen Streets.

A shared maritime landscape

Pilot Hill includes areas managed by several bodies: the current lighthouse is managed by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, while the old lighthouse and cottages are managed by the Yaegl Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation. Treat the site with care and follow any local access guidance.

Before visiting, check the Pilot Hill information from Clarence Valley Council (opens in a new tab) and the Visit NSW lighthouse listing (opens in a new tab) for current visitor details.
